Acne during pregnancy
Pregnancy can trigger acne or make existing adult acne worse. But acne during pregnancy don`t apper to all pregnant women. At some women acne durin pregnancy can be worse than in a nomal time period. Acne during pregnancy appear due to the higher levels of the hormones called androgens. These hormones cause the sebaceous glands in your skin to get bigger and produce more sebum (oily substance). With the extra oils and shed skin cells pores become block, bacteria forms, and acne develops.
This extra sebum, combined with the shed skin cells that line your hair follicles, blocks your pores, creating an environment in which bacteria can rapidly multiply. All this can eventually lead to the inflammation and skin eruptions of acne.
During pregnancy time if you suffer from acne do not use treatment before you have to consult your doctor. But if you take some treatment to combat acne and you becom preganant you have to stop the treatment and go to your doctor and advise with him what may or may not be harmful for you baby. Drugssuch as isotretinoin (Accutane), topical tretinoin-like Retin-A, and Prescription antibiotic creams containing tetracycline should be completely avoided during pregnancy, as they can cause many problems, even miscarriage.
Women who are experiencing acne for the first time can breath a sigh of relief because majority of women’s pregnancy acne completely clears and for those who had it prior to conceiving, can go back to, or may try the treatments the were prohibited during there pregnancy.
